OUR STORY Born and raised in Southern California, we were home-schooled from Kindergarten to High School. It was not until we moved to Northern California in the 2010s, that we were introduced to the world of baking. Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffin Cups were the first baked good we ever made (believe it or not, we never attempted chocolate chip cookies until 2022). As we became more involved in the kitchen, our baking experience also increased. But we also took up other hobbies. Besides baking, Warren also enjoys gardening and Jasriel loves to write fiction. We were brought up in an environment where a simple life, wholesome ingredients, and made-from-scratch foods were championed. This concept of "homemade is better made" was reflected in our cooking and later in our baking. Coming from a culturally colorful background with our Filipino mother and our father's mother being from Mexico, we didn't shy away from trying new cooking and baking adventures. Turns out, baking is in our heritage: our great-great-grandfather was a baker in Mexico. We've tried out many baking techniques and recipes, but it wasn't until we were introduced to yeasted bread that our baking fate was sealed. In 2018, we moved to Idaho and continued honing in our cooking and baking skills. During our time in the Gem State, we made our first attempt at cake baking. It was a miserable result; nowhere near the delicious cakes we make now. We learned new recipes, more techniques, the science behind baking, and better baking intuition. In spring of 2022, we moved to the beautiful state of Arkansas and secured a permanent home in December of 2022. On January 22, 2023, Baking Bliss NWA was born, with Warren being the mastermind behind the name. Warren was the co-baker and chief financial officer; responsible for all the numbers and inventory behind our small business. Jasriel is the co-baker, and is responsible for managing Baking Bliss NWA's social media, website, and customer communications. From May to October, we participated in the Springdale Farmers' Market. In August of 2023, we started our sourdough journey, adding sourdough to our baking skillset. In our home, we make everything completely from scratch, from our meals to our desserts, our breads to our tortillas, nothing is processed or packaged. Our love and experience for baking continues to grow with our small business. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine we'd be running a microbakery in NWA, yet here we are! In loving memory of Warren David Wieland... My name is Jasriel Wieland, the 19-year-old baker behind Baking Bliss NWA. This microbakery was born from the close bond between my little brother Warren and I, as we embarked on this venture together. We were more than siblings; we were a team, we were inseparable partners, each complementing the other perfectly—Warren with his sharp mind for numbers and quick thinking, and me with my skills in writing, managing our website, and handling communications. On August 6, 2024, Warren passed away unexpectedly, just a little over a month after celebrating his 18th birthday. His sudden loss was a profound shock to our family and the community he had touched. His passing occurred only three days after we were thrilled to secure our first opportunity to supply Filipino breads and pastries to Lasang Pinoy, a local restaurant. Sadly, he passed away before our first order was fulfilled. Words are so feeble to describe the pain of losing Warren so suddenly, and the void he left can never be filled. He was not just my business partner but also my closest friend, with whom I shared every aspect of my life—we were like twins, only being year apart in age and even sharing birthdays since they were just six days apart. The outpouring of love and prayers from our community has provided great comfort to my family and I as we continue to lean on the Lord and trust Him; all glory goes to Jesus. Despite this heartbreaking loss, I remain committed to Baking Bliss NWA, now with the support of my family and the love and heartfelt prayers from our wonderful community. Although the journey is more challenging without Warren, I am determined to continue our microbakery, honoring Warren’s memory with each product we create. Each baked good we create carries a piece of this little business my brother and I started, and I hope that when you enjoy our pastries and breads, you taste a bit of the love and time that went into them. Among the many recipes we had created, Warren’s "Classic" Sourdough holds a special place. This was his very own creation, crafted entirely by him, and it has become our most popular item. Each loaf is a tribute to his creativity and skill, and I hope that when you enjoy our sourdough, you can taste the unique touch that made it so special. Your support means more than words can express—it helps us keep Baking Bliss NWA and Warren’s memory alive in the most meaningful way. Thank you for being a part of this journey and for supporting us as we move forward, helping us celebrate Warren's memory through every bite. God bless.❤️
