Greetings Everyone! I am Brittany Howard, I am a Mobile,AL native. I am an alum of Alabama A&amp;M University! I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I currently reside in Huntsville, AL where I am a 3rd grade teacher. From a early age, I’ve been in the kitchen with my parents and family members. I love being creative in the kitchen , but I absolutely love putting a smile on my customers faces with a delicious sweet treat!

Fall River Bakery in Huntsville, AL is more than just a bakery - it's a community. Lesley Pierce, the owner and operator, is committed to bringing authentic, traditional Portuguese cuisine to the south. The bakery believes in the value of locally-created food using the freshest ingredients sourced from local purveyors, including their own backyard chickens. Lesley was raised in an Azorean Portuguese/Scottish/English household in southeastern Massachusetts, where there is a large Portuguese community. After moving down south, she missed having a nata or slice of massa whenever she wanted. To satisfy her craving, she learned to bake them herself. ﻿With a commitment to authenticity and baking from scratch, Fall River Bakery delivers the heartfelt warmth of genuine Portuguese baked goods in every bite. The bakery is proud to serve the Huntsville/Madison County area and thanks its customers for supporting local.

Pastel de nata is a Portuguese Tart with a delicious pastry with a flaky, buttery crust and a creamy egg custard filling. The filling is made with egg yolks, sugar, and milk, which is then poured into the crust and baked until golden. Fall River Bakery steeps lemon rind and cinnamon stick in the warm milk for depth of flavor. The tart's texture is creamy and slightly firm, making it the perfect dessert for any occasion. This product may contain allergens. This product not inspected by the health department.

Most traditional Portuguese sweets include a few common ingredients: a lot of eggs, sugar, butter, and milk. Flavorings vary by region and can include lemon, cinnamon, aguardente (Portuguese Brandy), orange, and passion fruit. Most of our recipes are Azorean in origin (specifically the island of São Miguel, which is where my family is from), and they are how my Vavo made them. We are always open to special requests if your family is from a particular region of Portugal.&nbsp; Eggs: The eggs we use in our recipes come from our spoiled, rotten backyard hens. These hens are fed quality food supplemented with herbs and dried flowers. They love to eat corn on the cob, fresh berries, kale, and pretty much anything we eat while sitting on the back porch.&nbsp;The treat that makes them run to us no matter where they are in our backyard is a good ol’ bag of mealworms.&nbsp; Butter: At Fall River Bakery, use ingredients as close to what our family in Portugal would use, even if that means spending a little more money.&nbsp;We use the finest quality European butter available to us, usually Kerrygold Irish butter or&nbsp;Plugrà European butter.&nbsp; Milk: For all of our recipes, we use vitamin D whole milk when milk is called for.&nbsp;It is what my Vavo used; therefore, it is what I use. That being said, we are experimenting with replacing whole milk with some non-dairy kinds of milk for our customers who would like an alternative option.&nbsp; All of our products at Fall River Bakery may contain allergens and have not been inspected by the health department.&nbsp; We are a certified Cottage Food home bakery.
