Our Story

Caphe Fia, is a local Baked Treats and Dessert company creating “nostalgic goodness in every bite”. The name of the company stemmed from the Owner/Managing Director’s childhood dream of owning and operating her own “café” and her first career choice of being a pastry chef. Her educational background saw many achievements working her way up to her Master’s Degree with honors in 2012. Her career path took her through years of the hospitality industry and then to the exciting field of entrepreneurship where she mentored more than 65 small businesses through her career. After doing this for 5 years she decided to put her knowledge into practice and registered her company in 2014. In her search for a few years prior for a viable business idea, she accidentally found her love and passion for cookie decorating by attending a cookie decoration session with her cousin in Maraval, Trinidad. It was from there the business idea was bourne as she realized her “knack” and skill to create and design cookies and baked treats that evokes a nostalgic emotion in the recipient. This was the starting point and the business has since evolved into new markets.Based in the southern part of Trinidad and Tobago, the company is managed by Ms. Afiya Douglas and employs approximately 5 part-time workers during the peak seasons. Our customer base includes private clients, corporate clients and large retailers to name a few. Our product line has transitioned over the years and now consists of Gourmet Breads, Desserts, Decorated Cookies, Ready To Bake Frozen Foods and seasonal treats such as Pastelles. Through our partnership with The Planting Seeds Platform and personnel, our business is now poised for growth through the “shelving” programme where our products can now be found on the shelves of large retail outlets including Massy Stores (7 locations) and Eat it Marketplace.

For as long as I can remember, the kitchen has been my sanctuary, my playground of flavors, and my canvas for creativity. From the days of dressing up as a chef for career days at school to discovering my love for baking in high school, this journey has been nothing short of magical. Baking isn't just a hobby or a career path for me; it's my passion, my obsession, and my reason for being. It's what fills my thoughts 24/7, pushing me to constantly learn new techniques and dream up innovative recipes. My culinary journey has taken me through various kitchens, from vegan bakeries to Italian pastry shops, and even to the prestigious realm of Michelin-starred hospitality.
