Our Story

Welcome to My Little Cottage! We are Darcie and Dayla, two sisters who decided to combine our passion for baking, cooking, and herbal healing. We live on a little family compound in our hometown, Kearney MO! Darcie is married to her amazing husband Cole, who together have two precious boys named Archer and Rowan. Darcie became passionate about reading ingredients and cooking/baking from scratch back in 2021 when she had her first son and realized just how poorly food at the store is made. She also loves to study herbs and makes herbal tinctures and honeys, if you have any questions about natural healing or hair health, she is your gal. Dayla is a smart, creative cat lover who truly has the hands for baking. She is the heart of My Little Cottage. Her baked goods are unlike anything you'll ever taste. She takes her time, measures perfecly, and puts her all into every single thing she bakes, she is truly a gifted baker! When she is not baking you can find her snuggled up with her kitties drawing beautiful pictures in her notebook. Welcome to RachyBakes! I'm Rachael, proudly serving customers in the Kansas City area. Since I was a little girl, I've loved baking and spreading happiness to friends and family through desserts. As I've gotten older, and my baking has improved I've had many people tell me I should be selling these goods to continue to spread joy to others. This was the beginning of a journey that has taken me months of research and sleepless nights to bring to life. Although it's not a brick-and-mortar shop yet, I'm still following a dream I've had since a child, encouraged by others, and for that I am excited and thankful. In May of 2022 our sister Danae Ella Hubbard passed away from an accidental overdose of a pill laced with Fentanyl. She was an amazing sister, daughter, and friend. She is dearly missed every single day. We share her story in hopes to help others because that's all she ever did. Did you know laced Fentanyl pills is killing thousands and thousands of young adults and even children? You won't see much about it on the media, but if you research you will find out that it is a very serious problem and taking the lives of MANY. The people who sell these laced pills, hardly ever get caught which makes it incredibly difficult to get it under control. It is not safe to take any kind of pill that has not been prescribed to you, it could take your life. Ella suffered from anxiety, depression, and BPD. She was religiously seeing a counselor, a psychiatrist, and taking prescribed medicine. She was trying so hard and battling every day. To get some relief, she would sometimes take other pills not prescribed to her, one night, she was unknowingly given a laced one, and it took her life.
