Our Story

Welcome to Blake’s Bakes, proudly serving customers in the Berkeley Heights, NJ area. During the COVID pandemic, my daughters and I brainstormed on ways to leverage our skill sets to help those in need. After some deliberation, we decided to start a non-profit operation called ‘Bake My Day’ - a virtual bake sale. We offered standard menu items as well as seasonal and holiday additions. After almost 3 years of operation, net proceeds of nearly $10,000 were donated to local charities and food banks.When my daughters left home to attend college, we decided to shut down the non-profit business. However, with some of the lessons and skills learned from the previous operation, I decided to relaunch under a new name, Blake’s Bakes. Fully licensed as a home bakery in the state of NJ, my streamlined menu focuses primarily on cookies including shortbread, classic cookies, stuffed/gourmet cookies and custom sugar cookies. Down the road, I’ll add cookie bars, brownies and blondies.

Welcome to Bernside Bakery &amp; Crafts! I'm Jonathan, serving Mountainside, NJ, and the surrounding areas. Thanks for visiting! My passion for baking began at a young age when I learned alongside my mother and grandmother. Their love for creating homemade, delicious goods inspired me, and by the mid-90s, I was baking bread on my own, quickly falling in love with sourdough. As I continued to work toward perfecting my craft, experimenting with natural fermentation and organic ingredients, the positive feedback from friends and family motivated me to take the next step. That feedback, combined with a surprise holiday gift of some baking tools from a former manager, rekindled my love for sourdough. That's how my cottage micro bakery came to life. Today, I'm proud to offer fresh, locally made breads and baked goods, focusing on organic products and using local grains whenever possible. Sourdough Bagels

The slow-fermented, 100% organic, Artisanal Sourdough bread has a tangy, chewy crust with a moist, hearty interior. We use a mix of organic grains (including local grain from NJ &amp; PA), to make a bread perfect for eating on its own, making artisan sandwiches, or pairing with soup or salads. The addition of browned butter, brown sugar, and sourdough starter gives these Sourdough Chocolate Chunk Cookies a rich and tangy chocolatey, toffee flavor. This is Blake's Bakes order form for items available to order to benefit the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad. A portion of the proceeds from orders placed with this form will be donated to the BHVRS to help finance critical equipment upgrades. This order form may be utilized December 8-15.
